Methodists in Bath launch a new church

A new Methodist Church for Bath will hold its first services on Sunday 4th September 2022. The four Methodist church congregations in Bath – Beechen Cliff, Horizon, Nexus and Weston – are combining in order to create the new “Bath Methodist Church”, but all the existing church sites will be retained as resources for the mission and work of the new church.

about us.

Bath was the fourth place to have a Methodist Society in 1741 and there have been many Methodist churches in the area since then. There are now six churches  and several other communities which form the Bath Mission Area of the North East Somerset & Bath Circuit. Get to know us a little here or get in touch so we can get to know you.

Some things you might want to know
1

Connected

The Methodist Church is a Connexional church covering the whole of Great Britain. The six churches in the Bath Mission Area work together and with others in North Somerset in a Circuit and as part of the Bristol District. We’re also part of the Learning Network South West. We also try to work with other churches in Bath where we can.

2

Online and Offline

We like to gather together in person when we can, but have been learning how to do community online too. We started using Zoom for worship and small groups during the pandemic and we are thinking about how we can develop our online presence in the future.

3

Looking to the Future

Methodism is an historic denomination, but we’re looking to make a difference here and now. Many of John Wesley’s principles are still very relevant to today.

4

people Focused

As followers of Jesus, we’re all about people, finding ways to grow, learn and develop together following his example and teaching.
