The Bristol Methodist District
Across the West of England
Welcome to the Bristol District of the Methodist Church
The District covers Gloucestershire, Greater Bristol and large parts of Somerset and Wiltshire — nearly 7,500 square miles in total.
From coast to countryside and inner city to rural, the District offers a diverse mix of social, political and economic contexts with four cities: Gloucester (home to the National Waterways museum and the resting place of King Edward II), Bristol (where John Wesley first preached in the open air), Bath (a World Heritage City) and Wells (England’s smallest city), numerous universities and higher/further education contexts from Russell Group universities to agricultural colleges and sports academies and a rich tapestry of towns and villages from the historic to the modern.
Please explore the website to find out more about us. There is information about the work we do and some of the people who are involved as well as details of our social media feeds.
There is still much to do to capture everything that’s going on in the District, but we welcome your comments and suggestions.
